I am a fish in a pocket.

My head sticks out of it

I’ve just entered the lobby

I feel a soft warmth

I count the steps on the staircase

ten, fifteen, twenty, thirty, and thirty-two

I brush against the half-open door

softly, she puts me down

in the lukewarm, clear water

I bath in the washbasin

I see my reflection in the mirror

she dries me delicately

she lays me down on the pillow

I sink into the duvet

suddenly I start to dream.

I am a fish in a bed.
